PSAT Testing

2011 PSAT at North Atlanta

The PSAT is available to 9th graders for a fee of $13.  The PSAT will be offered at North Atlanta during the school day on Oct. 12.  All students in 10th and 11th grade homerooms will take the test, as well as 9th grade students who register and pay for the exam.

When is the PSAT?   Oct 12th

Why would I want to take it?   The PSAT is great practice for the SAT, because the tests have the same structure.  After the your results come back, the college board lets you see exactly which areas might benefit from additional practice before you take the SAT.  Some scholarships use the PSAT as a criterion for consideration.  Also, it can give colleges a way to begin recruiting you.

Do I have to pay for the test?  Yes, if you are in a 9th grade homeroom.  If you are in a 10th or 11th grade homeroom, no.

How can I register?  If you are in a 10th or 11th grade homeroom, you do not need to do anything.  If you are in a 9th grade homeroom, bring $13 CASH to Ms. Rasheed in the College Zone, across from the media center.  She is available to collect fees during both lunches and after school.

Is there a deadline?  9th graders must pay by September 21st to guarantee a spot.

How can I prepare?   All registered students receive a booklet that describes the test structure, allowed calculators, and gives practice questions.  Even more information can be found at www.collegeboard.com

I still have questions, who do I ask?  Ms. Durham or Ms. Brazil- in the Global Broadcasting and Journalism SLC office.  E-mail is adurham@atlantapublicschools.us or lbrazil@atlantapublicschools.us, or phone is 404-802-4709 or 404-802-4753
