Kimberly Elementary School

Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl

In 1985 Helen Ruffin, a media specialist from Dekalb County, began a game format competition so students from different schools had the opportunity to compete to test their knowledge of books nominated from the Georgia Children's Book Award program.  This competition is designed to inspire and encourage students to read.  This year marks the 16th annual county wide competition.  It took place Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Bunche Middle School.  Our team ranked 14th out of 27 elementary school teams.  We are proud of our team and are eager to begin preparing for the 2018 competition.

Each student is responsible for reading the assigned books and participating in a discussion and practice quiz for each book.  We are in  need of additional copies of each book.  Please consider donating to purchase the books by clicking here.
