  • APS Statement Regarding Personnel Changes

Atlanta Public Schools is appreciative of the leadership demonstrated by all of our principals, particularly those who have served the district for many years.  Like all school districts, APS conducts an annual assessment of where we are as a system, as well as a review of any revisions to state law. Necessary changes are made to ensure the district remains in compliance and that all of our students are prepared for the next level and long-term success. This process includes an intense and methodical performance review of all of our schools and their leadership teams. For the full statement, please click here.

  • Atlanta Public Schools parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey administered by the Georgia Department of Education. Data from the Georgia Parent Survey will be used along with the Georgia Student Health Survey and the Georgia School Personnel Survey to calculate the School Climate Star Rating within the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI).

The Georgia Parent Survey has 20 questions and should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete it. Data results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online.

As I enthusiastically accept this opportunity to advance our school, it is my personal and professional pledge to model, inspire, challenge, support and encourage every member of our school family to remain focused on student success.  This success is inclusive of academic achievement and character development; it is also guided by the principle that no one rises to low expectations.
All leadership transitions come with challenges, learning, and growth. Joseph E. Brown Middle School has the remarkable potential to develop life-long learners and produce forward thinkers that can make an impressive contribution to our society.
The mission of Atlanta Public School is to educate all students through academic excellence, preparing them for success in life, service and leadership. Therefore, our purpose is clear:  To ensure that all students will graduate with competitive 21st
century skills and abilities.
The strategy is simple: Teach our students as if they are our own children. Armed with passion and purpose, I am challenged yet motivated to lead the school-based community and engage all stakeholders in the realization of the district’s goal for our students as we strategically and urgently focus on continuous school improvement.
