 Personal Histories
Welcome to the second half of the school year and we would like to extend a warm welcome to Ms. Fowler who is now on the Third Grade Team.
We appreciate the parents who attended our first parent meeting. Please check the responses to your questions in the Class Assignment section of the webpage. 
In reading we are working on inferences,main ideas,finding key details, comparing and contrasting.These reading skills will overlap and spiral throughout the year.  Encourage your child to read independently for 30 minutes daily and practice skills on
Math skills that will be covered during this nine weeks are plane shapes, two-digit multiplication, and single-digit division. Work with your child  using base ten blocks to simulate dimensions of plane figures in order to figure out area and perimeter. Here are a few websites that you can use to help your child.; ; math for the ipad .Continue to work with your child on multiplication and division facts.
In Social Studies we are studying personal histories of historical figures.Do not forget that the Pizza Biography is due on Feburary 1, 2013. In accordance with third grade polices, each day that a report is late results in a drop of one letter grade.
 We have just begun magnets in Science. Discuss with your child how magnets are utlized within the home. Studyisland is a great resource to use.
The  English Langugage Arts skills include:prepositions,conjunctions and interjections. An excellent resource is Grammar Rock.
